The first success story from East Renfrewshire’s brand new campaign, ‘A Place to grow’ will be a tape cutting ceremony for the opening of Crossmill Business Park in Barrhead tomorrow, Thursday 1 December at 11.30hrs.

 

Councillor Tony Buchanan, East Renfrewshire’s convenor for economic development and regeneration will be cutting the tape with A.C. Whyte & Co.’s original founder Alistair Campbell Whyte and Robert Phin, Managing Director of the thriving building company.

Councillor Tony Buchanan explains, “Crossmill Business Park is owned by the council and has 10 acres of fully serviced plots for business development opportunities. The Council has led this development by investing more than £1m in infrastructure and by building seven small factories which are fully let out to local firms. I am absolutely  thrilled to welcome A.C. Whyte as the first private sector tenant to Crossmill Business Park. Further discussions are on-going with a number of developers hoping to relocate to this new business park, so the message is get in early and talk to the Council now.”

This is an important starting point to the major regeneration planned for the Barrhead area as the site is ideally situated for easy access to Glasgow, Renfrewshire and the Ayrshire’s whilst only 30 minutes from both airports and right on the national motorway network .”

Robert Phin, Managing Director, commented, “Our staff range from the highly-experienced to dynamic young apprentice surveyors, and with these new premises we will be well placed to efficiently tackle the opportunities ahead.”

A.C. Whyte & Co.’s 4,500sq ft. premise consists of an office unit, planned to accommodate the steadily expansion of the organisation, provide six individual offices, two well-equipped open-plan work areas for the site management and surveying teams, two meeting rooms, a large storage yard and training centre.

The building has received an energy performance rating of A, which relates to an excellent low carbon emissions rating.

Established in 1973, A.C. Whyte has flourished from its small beginnings to a dynamic company working on projects ranging from £10,000 to £6m. In 2009, their dedicated team increased to around 180.

Despite the market decline in 2010, turnover  increased by over £1m due to a strong focus on making homes more energy efficient.  Forging new partnerships with energy providers and intermediaries, the aim is to be a one-stop shop for all energy-efficiency needs and ensure that homes across Scotland meet green credentials with the very latest in energy saving technology, such as external and internal wall insulation, draught proofing and solar panels.
