The A.C. Whyte team grows, ready for 2021 growth

At A.C. Whyte we believe our people are our strength.  We nurture talent and aim to provide development opportunities across the business and our success stories are visible throughout the team. Our reputation as one of the most respected contractors in our field, our pool of existing talent and the opportunities to build a career within A.C. Whyte is what attracts new talent to our team, further strengthening our offering to clients and their residents.

To protect our commitment to delivering Quality as Standard, as we head into a period of planned growth it was essential that we had the right resource and structure in place to deliver on this.  In early July Stephanie Connor, a seasoned Human Resource specialist joined A.C. Whyte as Head of HR and has been working on building our people plan which will support our growth.

Russell will take a leadership role of the Surveying and Estimating department, imparting his wealth of knowledge he will manage, support and develop his team, imbedding the disciplines and values he is highly respected for.  Russell’s team will benefit from learning from one of A.C. Whyte’s most experienced and supportive team players.

Russell welcomed Elio Walker to his team in early October.  After seeing our #nowrongpath campaign Elio, a recently qualified Quantity Surveyor, requested a period of work experience with A.C. Whyte after graduating with a Masters degree in Quantity Surveying from Glasgow Caledonian University.  Showing many of the positive qualities we look for in our team and immediately demonstrating his capabilities, we invited Elio to join the Surveying team on a permanent basis, he will be supporting Russell with our Estimating function.

In a year where H&S was in the spotlight globally, we expertly navigated our requirements thanks to John Gallacher (MSc) fully immersing himself in the intricacies of all things COVID related and supporting the team to deliver our COVID mobilisation strategy.  Amidst this challenging year he also succeeded in achieving his Master of Science in Safety and Risk Management with Merit from the University of Strathclyde.  John’s quest for knowledge is an asset to A.C. Whyte and our Clients and we would like to congratulate him on this impressive achievement.

Steven McNellis and John McIntyre also welcome three new Trainee Site Managers to their team.

David Higgins an experienced roughcaster joins us seeking career development having successfully completed his Construction Management Degree.  We have also recognised the hard work and commitment of James Green and Russell Brownlie, both moving from positions as joiners in the team to Trainee Site Managers.  The three of them join a Site Management Team with over 170 years collective experience, so will be nurtured and learn from the best.

Hendy Wong, Jamie MacPhail, Owen McNeela, and Sean Sweeney, successfully graduated from the 2019 Skills Academy and have joined the team, taking everything they learned as Akademos and putting it into practice as A.C. Whyte employees.

We have also added to our team of operatives throughout the year:

John McIntyre, Evan Pope, Holban Silvio, Sandor Veres, Mate Laczi, Ian Baird, Craig Canning, Romica Vintalescu, Kristian Orosz, Gabor Foldl, Ryan McLeod, Mark Goddard, Jim Brown, David Kirkwood, Arthur Augaitis and David Morrison.
