A.C. Whyte & Co. Ltd has been awarded the prestigious Outstanding Performing Business Award by East Renfrewshire Chamber of Commerce at the second annual awards ceremony on Thursday 6th June, beating off stiff competition from JM Murdoch & Son Ltd and WG Renfrew Ltd.
Over 150 guests attended the glittering ceremony at the Dalmeny Park Country House Hotel which was hosted by broadcast journalist and TV presenter Sally Magnusson. Entertainment was provided by Britain’s Got Talent’s Edward Reid.
John Hamilton, Chamber President said, “I would like to congratulate everyone who entered, not just the finalists and winners. The Chamber is proud to be associated with such outstanding companies. We are delighted we introduced these awards- to recognise the range and quality of businesses that we are fortunate to have here in East Renfrewshire. The event would not have been possible without the support of our sponsors and I would like to thank them for their commitment.”
Councillor Tony Buchanan, Convener for Infrastructure and Sustainability explained, “Now, more than ever, it is absolutely imperative that the Chamber and the Council work hand in hand with all of our local businesses. Over the next 5 – 6 years Welfare Reform alone, will literally lift £26 million OUT of our local economy. It’s quite a bleak thought, but when the going gets tough, the tough have got to get going. Our priority objective is creating a vibrant and sustainable local economy. East Renfrewshire is continuing to buck the trend nationally and long may it continue.”
Other winners included J&M Murdoch who secured the family business award, environmental advice firm Ideeas who were presented with the home worker award and jeweller and goldsmith Kevan Scott in the retailer of the year category (under 10 employees).
East Renfrewshire provost Alastair Carmichael, who presented the outstanding performing business award, said: “the winners of the various business awards have excelled themselves.
“I’m pleased that these things are happening in East Renfrewshire and it shows that East Ren is a place to grow.”
