We are delighted to announce that A.C. Whyte & Co. Ltd has been short-listed in the Scottish Business Awards 2011, Customer Focus category.
The awards received a staggering response, with over 250 businesses entering across 12 categories – A.C. Whyte & Co. was invited to apply after being independently nominated. Our application will now go forward to the main judging panel, chaired by Duncan Bannatyne OBE and made up of some of Scotland’s most illustrious business leaders, business journalists and academics. The winners will be announced at a spectacular ceremony at the EICC on the 23rd of February 2011, hosted by comedian Angus Deayton. The event is by far the biggest awards ceremony in Scotland with over 800 leading business figures likely to attend, including, Sir Tom Hunter, Sir Tom Farmer, Sir Arnold Clark, Sir Ian Wood and Jim McColl OBE, as well as a multitude of major corporations and leading SME’s.
The key-note speaker at the ceremony will be Nobel peace prize winner, Prof. Muhammad Yunus, one of the most respected and revered people in the world. Prof. Yunus founded Grameen Bank, and in doing so pioneered the micro-finance movement that has become a global phenomenon and has changed the face of banking.
One hundred per cent of profits from the ceremony will be donated to three nominated charities and no management fee is taken by the organisers. The organisations supported this year are CLIC Sargent, who care for and support children and young people with cancer, Wild Hearts, a micro-finance charity helping entrepreneurs in West Africa to build thriving businesses and GlenCraft, an Aberdeen based charity that provides factory based jobs and skills training people with disabilities.
The Scottish Business Awards ceremony will bring the Scottish business community together, to recognise the achievements that have gone before, raise a considerable amount for charity, and lead the drive to make a positive social impact in our country.
Robert Phin, Managing Director of A.C. Whyte & Co., commented “We are delighted to have been shortlisted for the awards, particularly, in recognition of the hard work and dedication of all our staff and their contribution to customer care. It is all the more satisfying to know that proceeds are going directly to three worthy charities.”
