AC Whyte has been appointed by the City of Edinburgh Council (CEC) to deliver the Moat & Hutchison House Roof Replacement project, further strengthening our long-standing partnership.
The contract, valued at £1.42 million, will be delivered over a 20-week programme, with works scheduled to commence early February 2026. The project involves the renewal of flat roofing systems across the two high-rise residential blocks, forming part of CEC’s ongoing investment in maintaining and upgrading its housing stock.

The scope of works includes the removal of existing roof coverings, repair and preparation of the existing mastic asphalt substrate, and the installation of new insulation and a modern bituminous flat roofing system, alongside all associated drainage works. These improvements will enhance the long-term performance, durability and weather resistance of the buildings.
This project represents the second high-rise flat roof renewal programme AC Whyte has delivered for the City of Edinburgh Council in recent years, following the successful completion of works at Holyrood and Lochview in 2025. Building on that experience, the Moat & Hutchison House project reflects the continued trust placed in AC Whyte to deliver complex refurbishment works safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
AC Whyte is proud to continue working in partnership with the City of Edinburgh Council, delivering essential investment that helps protect homes, improve building performance and support residents across the city.
