Both North Lanarkshire Council and A.C. Whyte & Co. Ltd were keen to adopt a true area based approach and worked hard to secure the right combination of ECO and Scottish Government HEEPS funding, to deliver projects that comprised both social and private housing.
The Scottish Government is heavily focussed on making homes in Scotland more energy efficient. With almost a quarter of Scottish housing having solid walls and the majority of them uninsulated, external wall insulation presents a major opportunity to alleviate fuel poverty and tackle climate change.
As Jennifer Phin, Commercial Manager at A.C. Whyte said: “It’s not just about the insulation it’s about changing the way people live in their homes and their energy usage to tackle fuel bills in a tangible and long term way”.
A.C. Whyte and North Lanarkshire Council have worked together on their capital works programme for many years, this long term relationship provided the perfect vehicle to deliver projects that will deliver not only more aesthetically pleasing properties, but homes that are more energy efficient, benefiting the residents of these communities and the generations to come.
