May and Gunnet Court

This energy efficiency project involved the external and internal retrofit of two nine-storey blocks, comprising 96 mixed-tenure flats, to meet PAS 2035 standard. Delivered in North Edinburgh, the project aimed to enhance energy performance, improve resident comfort, and reduce carbon emissions.

Initially designed to upgrade the building envelope with external wall insulation and ceiling insulation around newly installed triple-glazed windows, the project evolved to achieve full PAS 2035 compliance. This included appointing key retrofit roles and collaborating closely with design teams, manufacturers, and the supply chain to integrate advanced energy-saving measures.

Working with partners, we developed a comprehensive retrofit design and ventilation strategy. Early cost modelling allowed for adjustments that secured additional ECO funding, optimising the scope to deliver enhanced value and client savings for the City of Edinburgh Council.
