Blocks 1-3 Magdalene Court and 4-7 Magdalene Court

This Design & Build contract formed part of City of Edinburgh Council’s Capital Investment Programme and focused on delivering essential repairs and maintenance to 22 homes containing bungalows and flatted properties within Magdalene Court – a sheltered housing development providing accommodation and support for vulnerable residents.

Working closely with key partners, the project required a sensitive, resident-first approach. Internal access to each property was necessary, and the site itself had minimal space for a compound, requiring logistical coordination and planning. From the outset, clear communication and thoughtful engagement were prioritised to minimise disruption and maintain a safe, respectful environment for tenants throughout the works.

A series of surveys were undertaken in advance to inform delivery, ensuring that the improvements met both compliance requirements and the needs of the residents.

The Results

The project was delivered on time and within budget, with excellent tenant engagement throughout. Energy efficiency upgrades were successfully implemented, improving the performance and visual appeal of the properties. Cost savings were also identified to help the client maximise investment.
