This week, we welcomed young people from the Ayrshire Chamber Choices programme to our practical skills sessions at our Head Office.

The Choices programme supports young people aged 16-19 in North Ayrshire who are currently not in education, employment, or training. Over the course of six weeks, the Chamber provides a mix of classroom-based learning and employer-led experiences to help them build confidence and gain essential skills.

Our Skills Academy Principal, Tommy Campbell, led the visit. Tommy is passionate about creating pathways into employment for young people and promoting careers in construction  – one of the most exciting industries to be part of, driven by innovation, demand, and opportunity.

Laura Gilchrist, Ayrshire Chamber Choices commented:

As part of our Building Futures initiative, the group got hands-on experience in boarding, tiling on the roof rig, fitting solar panels, and took part in a CV workshop. They also learned about the components and benefits of an external wall insulation system.

We’ll follow this up with mock interviews in August, supporting the group to take the next step towards a career where they can thrive.
