AC Whyte is proud to be supporting the GROW (Glasgow Regional Opportunities for Work) programme, welcoming the first group of young people to our Head Office this week as part of this ambitious, employer-led initiative.
Delivered in partnership with Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, DYW Glasgow, DYW LED and DYW West, GROW is designed to give young people meaningful exposure to the world of work and to help build confidence, aspiration and informed career decision-making.
The engagement session was led by Tommy Campbell, Skills Academy Principal at AC Whyte, alongside Jamie McLean, Operations Director. Together, they provided 10 young people with a practical and honest insight into the construction industry — exploring the wide range of roles available, discussing career routes and progression, and involving participants in hands-on activities and open conversation.

What is GROW?
GROW is a bespoke, devolved regional skills programme shaped directly by employers and aligned to Glasgow’s economic needs. It focuses on key growth sectors including construction, renewables, housing, digital, finance, health, hospitality and the creative industries, ensuring young people gain exposure to realistic career pathways.
Backed by a £1 million skills investment from JPMorganChase, the programme aims to support over 700 young people and deliver more than 40,000 hours of work experience across the Glasgow City Region. A core focus of GROW is inclusion and social mobility, targeting young people from lower socio-economic and disadvantaged backgrounds through structured, evidence-led engagement.
AC Whyte’s Commitment to GROW
AC Whyte is committed to supporting initiatives that strengthen the future workforce and create genuine opportunities for young people. Our involvement in GROW reflects our belief in early engagement, real-world experiences and the power of collaboration between employers, schools and communities.
This session marks the first of many engagements AC Whyte has committed to as part of the programme, and we look forward to continuing our work with Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, DYW Glasgow, DYW LED and DYW West to deliver meaningful, long-term impact for young people across the region.
