AC Whyte is pleased to announce the appointment of Jamie McLean as Operations Director, who joins the business to lead our newly established Affordable Homes and New Build Division. This strategic expansion marks an important step in our continued growth, strengthening our position within the social housing market while building on our long-standing reputation for quality, partnership working and delivery at scale.
Jamie brings more than 37 years of experience in the construction industry, having begun his career as an apprentice joiner in 1988 before progressing into a wide range of senior leadership roles. His career includes positions such as General Foreman, Site Manager, Health & Safety Manager, Contracts Manager, Group Head of Construction and Operations Director.
Over the years, Jamie has successfully delivered homes for local authorities, registered social landlords, Erskine Veterans, Homes for Heroes, and a range of care home, retail and community-based projects. Notably, he played a significant role in both the pre- and post-delivery phases of the 2014 Commonwealth Games Athletes’ Village in Glasgow.
Jamie also brings experience in offsite manufacture (OSM), having managed a timber frame factory producing closed panels and bathroom pods. This period of his career strengthened his focus on modern methods of construction and innovative approaches to addressing labour challenges, quality control, and programme efficiency.

Our new Affordable Homes and New Build Division has been developed as part of AC Whyte’s long-term strategy for sustainable growth. The division will create new opportunities, strengthen partnerships and help to deliver modern, energy-efficient homes across Scotland.
