With over 400 players from across the construction sector, A.C Whyte attended the BE-ST FEST summit, hosted by the Build Environment – Smarter Transformation team. As we reach COP27, momentum is important to ensure we accelerate the progress made in the last year to achieve net zero targets. The festival showcased best practice, new solutions, training and opportunities for a zero-carbon built environment.
Our Managing Director, Jennifer Phin was part of the BE-CONNECTED panel session alongside representatives from Sunamp, Kenoteq, Ecosystem and the Scottish National Investment Bank.
Panelists shared their experiences of the growth of their respective business and how they have scaled up innovative solutions, as we advance our journey to net zero carbon in the build and refurbishment environment. Jennifer spoke about the importance of skills and jobs to meet the targets set out by the Scottish Government and the steps A.C. Whyte have taken to address the skills gap by the creation of our Skills Academy, now its 5th year. She also touched on the importance of bringing our people on the journey with us, commenting:
“The role of a leader is to pull the future forward, we have to put our people first, engage everyone on the journey and see user experience as everything, without that, even the best ideas will fail.”
It was a fantastic, insightful day with a lot of innovation, creativity and solutions in construction, as we look to achieve our net zero targets.
