Amidst the rigorous planning and delivery of the COVID-19 close down strategy, the brief to the A.C. Whyte team going into and throughout lockdown was for them to not just return to where they were before, but to emerge stronger, even more agile.  They have explored the opportunities this unprecedented situation presented and have adopted more technologies, implemented new digitised solutions to their communications, opened up conversations on efficiencies and considered and implemented different approaches to many of their operating procedures. 

The ‘new normal’ has its implications on site and the Operations team have translated the guidance into safe working environments that meet and often exceed the requirements outlined in the guidance.  With sites now gradually operational, the business is keeping a close eye on progress and intends to move in line with each of the phases outlined in the Construction Scotland restart plan.

The business has gradually restarted a number of Scottish Government HEEPS:ABS projects, designed to tackle fuel poverty, meaning many residents will have External Wall Insulation installed before the winter.  Having scoped the geography of their sites and working within the 2 metre social distancing parameters the business has returned a proportion  of their workforce and will aim to have the remainder returned to work as we safely enter phase 4 & 5 of Construction Scotland’s Restart Plan. 

With a healthy order book, a detailed strategy and plan to move through this period and beyond, A.C. Whyte have weathered this crisis and are positive about helping restart the economy, with works that will improve the energy efficiency of residents homes, whilst creating training and employment opportunities.
