Speaking at an Existing Homes Alliance event in the Scottish Parliament, alongside guest speakers Kevin Stewart the Minister for Local Government and Housing and Bob Dorris MSP, A.C. Whyte’s Managing Director Jennifer Phin announced the launch of the A.C. Whyte Skills Academy.  The event was to call on Parliament to create a Warm Homes Bill that will bring affordable to heat, low carbon homes for all in Scotland, create new jobs and investment and tackle climate change.

A.C. Whyte, a main contractor in the major refurbishment of homes throughout the UK and specialists in installing external wall insulation, were invited to talk about their contribution to improving the energy efficiency of Scotland’s housing.  Jennifer went on to speak about the lengths A.C. Whyte have taken to secure the quality and sustainability of their future workforce.

Working extensively with Energy Skills Partnership, Jennifer and her senior team identified that the shortage of skilled workforce was a future risk to the industry.  Together they met with West of Scotland College and began to develop The A.C. Whyte Skills Academy.

Months of dedicated time and resource went into planning and developing the inimitable course, which will include relevant content tailored specifically to A.C. Whyte and the energy efficiency industry’s needs.

Passionate about meeting the government objective of bridging the gap between education and employment, Jennifer and her team have created a truly unique, industry led initiative.  It will empower the next generation of A.C. Whyte employees by providing them with the opportunity to learn with the security of guaranteed employment at the end of their education.
