50th Anniversary Marks a Milestone in Commitment to a Sustainable Future

A.C. Whyte are thrilled to announce our 50th anniversary, celebrating half a century of excellence. Since our inception as A.C. Whyte (Slaters & Plasterers) in 1973, we’ve achieved remarkable milestones and earned a reputation for delivering high-quality projects.

Over the past ten years, we’ve exhibited impressive growth while refurbishing numerous homes across Scotland and the UK, staying true to our core values.

Today, with five decades of experience, we’re a leading construction firm specialising in major retrofit, boasting a £20 million turnover, a dedicated workforce of over 100 professionals, and successful operations in 26 out of the 32 Scottish local authority regions.

Despite challenges such as the 2008 financial crisis, the global pandemic, Brexit, skill shortages and supply chain disruptions, we’ve emerged stronger than ever.

As a dedicated Main Contractor, we focus on trust, safety, innovation, and community transformation. We’re committed to supporting Scotland’s net-zero targets and developing future-proofed solutions that reduce energy demand, generate local jobs, and enhance the wellbeing of communities.

Our innovative workforce training and upskilling model prepares our team for future jobs and aligns with our commitment to people, the industry, and the environment. This year, we’ve further strengthened our board with the appointments of two Directors, Marion Forbes and Dawn Neilson, adding valuable experience and expertise.

Our vision includes diversifying and expanding our operations, offering contracting, consulting, training through our Skills Academy, and innovation/IP, providing holistic retrofit solutions for businesses in the sector.  Jennifer Phin, our Managing Director, emphasises the importance of partnership, stating:

We wouldn’t be where we are today if it wasn’t for our team, our subcontractors, clients, and supply chain, as well as our long-standing partners, so I want to personally thank them for their longstanding commitment and efforts. Their unwavering support and collaboration have played a pivotal role in our journey and we look forward to the next 50 years.

Recognising the urgent need for retrofitting existing homes due to climate change and fuel poverty, we’re committed to leading this transformation with innovative, integrated growth strategies for sustainability and community prosperity.

A.C. Whyte’s 50th anniversary isn’t just a celebration of the past but a declaration of our commitment to a sustainable future. We look forward to many more years of success and community transformation.
